Denim Day, April 29, 2020
Wearing jeans on Denim Day has become a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual harassment, abuse, assault and rape. We ask community members, elected officials, businesses and students to wear jeans on this day as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual violence.
Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, May 9, 2020
Every second Saturday in May, letter carriers in more than 10,000 cities and towns across America collect the goodness and compassion of their postal customers, who participate in the NALC Stamp Out Hunger National Food Drive - the largest one-day food drive in the nation.
Taste of DownTown, July 18, 2020
AEDV hosts the "Taste of DownTown" event on the third Saturday in July with local restaurants, bands and entertainment stretched along eight historic blocks in the heart of downtown Carson City. Volunteers work in teams for two-hour shifts, conveniently placed at each restaurant, information booth or are on the setup/cleanup crew. The event utilizes roughly 170 volunteers for the largest downtown summer food festival in Carson City. This is the main fundraising event for AEDV.
National Night Out, August 4, 2020
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live and work. National Night out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.
Light After Dark 5K/10K Run Walk,

The "Light After Dark" 5K/10K Run Walk is held at the end of October as part of "Domestic Violence Awareness Month". The event begins at twilight at the Riverview Park and winds along the Carson River, with 3,000 solar lights illuminating the path. Volunteers organize and staff the event.
Classy Seconds Thrift Shop, 3rd Anniversary,

November 11, 2020, marks the 3rd anniversary of Classy Seconds in our new location at 3590 Gordon Street in Carson City. A huge "thank you" to the community for donations to Classy Seconds, which ultimately helps our shelter residents and others in and around our area.
Season of Giving - Adopt a Family for Christmas, November-December 2020
Families in the shelter and those who have been in the shelter during the past year are adopted by community groups, churches, offices and individuals who would like to make Christmas special for a family in need. From meals for Thanksgiving to toys for Christmas, donors are matched with a family and are provided a simple wish list of needed items and items hoped for. Share Your Christmas Food Drive,
Each December, in partnership with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and KTVN Channel 2, AEDV holds our primary food drive at the Governor’s Mansion, 606 Mountain Street in Carson City, from 6am to 10am.
