Advocates to End Domestic Violence (AEDV) is a private, not-for-profit organization located in Carson City, the capital of Nevada. The agency was formed in 1979 when a group of caring volunteers met to discuss the lack of services for victims of domestic violence, and as a result, AEDV was formed. The agency began by providing a crisis hotline, expanded to include a rented two-bedroom apartment for shelter, and over time, grew into a full-service program that operates a 51-bed emergency shelter, and provides a wide range of emergency and long-term services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Volunteers continue to play a crucial role in AEDV success and the services provided.
AEDV services are provided without charge and are confidential and survivor-centered.
